The International Garden Festival is an annual festival of landscaping near Quebec, Canada. This year, the festival held a contest to choose three of the 20 projects that will be built in the next festival, in the summer of 2011. Selected among 194 proposals from 33 countries, the jury chose three winners – one from Lucerne, another from London and another in Sydney. Vazio S/A received one of the two Honorable Mentions.
Our project “Suspended Weeds Garden” offers a thicket of wild weeds contained in wooden crates and stacked on timber shelves. Given the short time available for the maturation of the garden, perhaps the proposal is more suitable for a tropical climate country for being, above all, a celebration of the exuberance and agressiveness of the vacant lots vegetation and the fast growing plants. Anyway, this Mention is an incentive to try to build Suspended Weeds Garden somewhere else.
